What is BooksFundr?

BooksFundr is India's first crowd-funding platform for books. With BooksFundr, authors can create campaigns for their books and sell pre-orders. The books that meet pre-order goals are published by White Falcon Publishing, without any upfront costs to the author.

How does BooksFundr work?

Authors can create a BooksFundr campaign by submitting the book details, sample chapter/synopsis, book description, author biography and other details. We review the campaigns and make them live. By default each campaign runs for a period of 60 days. Authors can promote their campaigns to their target audience through social media, emails and other mediums. Readers show their interest in books by purchasing pre-orders. Books that meet the pre-order goals are the ones which have proven reader interest and we publish them for free.

What happens when a campaign meets the pre-order goal?

When a book campaign meets the pre-order goal, we send a formal offer and agreement to the author to publish the book. We provide design, editing, marketing and distribution services without any upfront cost to the author.

What happens when a campaign does not meet the pre-order goal?

For campaigns that fail to meet the pre-order goals, all the pre-orders are canceled and the readers are refunded the full amount. Alternatively, if an author wishes to purchase the balance pre-orders, we can still publish the book.

How is BooksFundr different from other crowd-funding platforms?

While other crowd-funding platforms, allow individuals to raise funds for any product, BooksFundr is a platform specifically designed for books. In other platforms, authors who successfully raise funds have to figure out for themselves about the publishing, marketing and distribution processes. Whereas in BooksFundr, these tasks are taken by White Falcon Publishing.

Will I earn royalty on the pre-orders?

Authors earn 100% Profit Share for all book sold over and above the pre-order goals.

What are the different scenarios an author can come across while participating in BooksFundr campaign?

Lets assume the book is of approximately 200 pages for which the pre-order goals are 100 for Starter plan and 200 for Regular plan.

Scenario I - Book gets less than 100 pre-orders

In this scenario, the campaign is declared as failed and the pre-orders are refunded. Alternatively, if an author wishes to purchase the balance pre-orders, we can still publish the book under the Starter plan.

Scenario II - Book gets between 100-200 pre-orders

We will publish the book under the Starter plan. Author gets 100% profit share for all pre-orders above the 100 pre-order goal.

Scenario III - Book gets more than 200 pre-orders

If the book gets more than 200 pre-orders, the author is given the option for publishing under the Starter plan or Regular plan. If the author chooses Starter plan then author gets 100% profit share for all pre-orders above the 100 pre-order goal. If the author chooses Regular plan then author gets 100% profit share for all pre-orders above the 200 pre-order goal.
